Ah ok just me then? More for me then lol Not saying i don't respect vegetarians i mean hey its your choice good for you ^^ me i like my meat and being a human i don't have fast reflexes, sharp claws or fangs in order to chase down my prey and kill it, i'd love to be able to raise my own livestock and kill them myself and just prepare my own food for the meantime though i'll have to suffice with supermarkets. Sounds cruel farming but hey ants do it with aphids, i don't see PETA getting on their case

^^ No, I agree with what you want. I think that is what most people what for animals. To stop the large companies that pack several chickens in one cage to save money.

I don't agree with what they do to the battery chickens, now that should be stopped. An animal has a right to lve a happy life even if i'm going to eat it. I read somewhere about this person that bought his food from a local farmer, he got to interact with the animals and one day he was wanting a lamb. He comforted it as it was getting shot, quick and painless and it wasn't under any unnessisary stress. Not like some programs i've seen where they hang sheep by their hind legs then slit their throats, thats just mean.

Before I start this little rant, I would like to say that I am a supporter of most of the work that PETA does. PETA does not tell people to throw blood on people wearing fur. The entire organisation should not be judged by the actions of the few of the members. Actually I find some of PETA's advertising to be intelligent and thought provoking. Notice I said most and some. ^^ A lot of their gimmicks are a little cheap, overdone, and inappropriate. I understand where some people are coming from. However, without organisations like PETA and the Animal Liberation Front doing undercover investigations, we would still be oblivious to the suffering of animals in factory farms, labs and other places. I know how hard it is to give up meat. It took me a few tries before I actually went full vegetarian. What really made me stick to my vegetarian diet was the video "Meet you Meat". www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=meet_your_meat I was shocked to the point of nausea by what I saw in the video. I don't suggest it if you have a weak stomach. For people wanting to switch to a veggie diet, I suggest you take steps. The first thing to go is Kosher, which kills without any type of painkiller or stunning first. The next thing that I gave up is pork, though I never at much of that to begin with. From there it was fairly simple to give up beef and chicken. I have never had seafood in my life, but that would probably be the last thing to go. Being vegetarian really isn't that hard. Most people think of all of us vegetarians eating vegetables all the time. However there are a lot of companies that make fake meats. Tofurky and Morning Star farms are my favorites. They have fake chicken nuggets, chicken patties, hot dogs (those are gross meat or no meat. ), hamburgers, taco filling, pepperoni and more. Tofurky tastes just like real turkey, I swear. My dogs, who turn their noses up at a carrot or piece of lettuce, love to eat the fake chicken patties! My parents and sister are all avid meat-eaters, but they actually prefer to eat Tofurky rather than real turkey on Thanksgiving! (My parents, by the way, loathe PETA. When I told my dad I wanted to become a member of PETA, these are his exact words: "I'd rather you join the American Nazi Party." And he's Jewish. I swear on my life.) Vegetarians also have less of an impact on the environment. Factory farms pump all of the animal's waste into the environment or burn it, messing up the ozone layer (causing global warming!!!). With the grain grown to feed animals we eat, we could feed dozens of third world countries. On average, it takes 6-7 pounds of grain/ vegetable matter to produce 1 pound of animal flesh. Of all the agricultural land in the US, 80% is used to grow animals to eat and the grain that feeds them. I'm not trying to pressure anyone into anything they don't want to do. I am simply just stating the facts and my experiences. Going vegetarian is a personal choice having to do with morals and personal health. I've cited my sources below. While they are from PETA's fact sheets, they have listed the resources where they obtained the information. I understand that some people may not like PETA, but they really do have a point when it comes to vegetarianism. www.goveg.comwww.peta.com/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=137www.peta.com/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=103www.peta.com/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=119By the way, Silk soymilk wins the internets!!!!! ^^

Sure through around videos I can't watch. My opinion remains at this: You can't hold an organization responsible for all of its members. I mean if that were fair I would be a Neo Natiz (As stated before I have heavy German anscetry and pride for them. They are a bunch of hard working people.) They(PETA) do good work and some of the members may get out of hand. It's really hard to be a large coperation now a days. Have you ever watched movies were the actos talk about the film? There is a three page realease form they show before it stating that the actors are not speaking on behalf of any of the film makers, FOX, or anything like that.

Some people are in it to solely help animals but i feel some of them don't exactly know what goes on behind the scenes and they seem to be taken for a ride which i think is unfair. The whole research thing well i'm for it, i just hope they can find a cure for cancer. I have a friend who has Hodgkin's Lymphonia and he developed it from nothing to stage 4 in 2 months, at the moment he has an infection and is coughing up basically red water and having frequent nose bleeds, the stuff they are giving him was most likely tested on animals. I just pray that it works. If there was no animal testing my friend would be dead by now, although sadly it looks like it is going that way anyway. Plus i found that program funny, like Yoki said, what cat doesn't like Irony?

Perhaps we should make a thread in the dicussion one. That way each side can state its points of veiws. Plus, I think this thread is quickly becoming a debate! ^^ Honestly I think the problem is the public. If more people cared, animals could recieve some help. And then the peopl helping them wouldn't have to be extremist to get noticed.
Most people are okay with animal testing for diease. As long as the animals are treated to the best of our abilities and recieve pain killers and such, I'm fine for diease research (As long as there was no other alternative). Humans have to be tested on the products too although they do get a say in that. But test animals for make-up (something I don't use) just makes me mad. That dose not help society in anyway. If we let stupid things like that fly, bigger problems occur.

Yes cosmetics shouldn't exploint animals in that way. I suppose in a way you're right, the public are used to seeing extremist acts hence it's the only way to communicate, but what good does destroying and potentially hurting others do to help get the message across to not hurt animals who are seen as our equal? You've also got some religions to think about since some don't agree, like the christian faith, they believe that god created humans in his own image and as one above the animals. Although i'm christian myself i don't personally believe that but you know people's beliefs can get in the way. I also don't agree with people abusing animals like hitting etc. It has been shown that serial killers/ murderers start off abusing animals, then move onto their wives, children, strangers etc. Yes i think it would be an awesome idea to put it into debates ^^; come chat turned into come debate
