"Yeah, we should probably check it out." Iris said, eying the wall as if it might charge at her. She padded to the cave entrance and poked her head out. The afternoon sunlight caught her full in the eyes. She blinked and shook her head. As her eyes got used to the sunshine, a leaf danced across the air in front of her nose. The brown wolf looked back at her friend. "Let's go!" After looking back to make sure Kai was following, she took a flying leap over the outcropping rock and loped off into the woods. She hopped over roots and fallen trees with ease as the long grass scratched her face. Her tongue lolled from her mouth and she spotted the river. She stopped dead. It was about 8 feet across and it glistened as the water wove through a maze of rocks. She stood for a minute, transfixed. The water hypnotized her as it flowed. Iris shook her head and trotted over to it. Hmm. I wonder what's on the other side?. Some of the rocks were smooth and flat, shaped by the river over time. The current was very light so she decided to take a chance. She carefully leapt to the first one. She wobbled slightly on her paws but quickly regained her balance. Just then, she remembered Kai. She glanced over her shoulder and gave a sharp yip. The next rock glinted at her, the light reflecting off the wet surface. She jumped and missed. Water sprayed everywhere as she broke the surface. She emerged, her ears hanging down and her fur drenched. The river was much shallower than she thought. When she stood up, the water just reached her shoulder. A fish swam by her left paw and darted downstream. Iris waded to the bank she had come from and sat, shivering in the air and hoping no one noticed. She was really clumsy today.

An old, rather bony wolfess stood but a few meters away from the river. It was rather calm today, she noticed, and perfect for wading through. Perhaps she could get the dust off of her coat, and then her picky daughter would quit complaining. Highly unlikely, Freyja thought to herself with a slight smile. The weather was cool today, and the two wolves had taken advantage of this by taking a small stroll through the woods. They'd managed to take down a small hare, and it was enough to satisfy their hunger for awhile. Fish were relatively abundent here, though catching them was always the hard part. But Frey was feeling rather confident and alive today, and she was always ready for a good challenge. Trotting closer to the stream, she lowered herself a bit and searched the water closely for any prey, her eyes like wide yellow saucers. Finding nothing but the occasional twig floating across the surface, she sighed and continued walking downstream. The water became rockier as Frey walked forward, first many small rocks, then large mossy ones that stuck out above the surface. Frey picked up her pace a little, but slowed as something caught her eye. A wolf, shuddering and dripping wet, sat alone on the riverside. Freyja squinted her eyes, trying to make out if it was her daughter, but she didn't recall her daughter ever having ear tufts. Frey was about to go over and help the poor wolf, when Lydia came bounding through the trees.
"Stop running off, mother! I swear, you're going to get us into trouble," she said sharply, but either Frey wasn't paying attention, or she pretended not to hear. "Mother?" Lydia asked, nudging Freyja with her nose. "Hush, Lydia. Look over there. See it? A poor wolf, all alone on the riverside."
Lydia mentally cursed and ignored her mother's sympathetic tone. "Did she us? Come on, let's get out of here!"
Freyja only looked at her daughter and blinked. "Lydia, you worry about the strangest things. Besides, we can't just leave her there."
"We can if you would just hurry up," Lydia muttered sorely. Frey narrowed her eyes and shook her head. Walking and putting all four paws into the water, she called out to the stranger. "Miss, do you need help?"

OCC: Kai: Please note that both Iris and Kai (happy now Rob?!?) are typing this and that I am NOT God Modding, Power Playing or whatever you want to call it. Iris: She's holding me hostage!!! Kai: Yes, I hold people hostage at their own house. Iris: Oh. *looks around* Well, on with the RPing! Kai: Remember the crazy apps folks? Well get ready for a lot more of that. IC: Delighted that Iris agreed, Kai darted after her pausing at the outcropping of rock at the entrance of the cave. As the wind picked up, an old yellow leaf hit her squarely in the face. Raising a paw to move it, Kai found it was much more fun to rip it apart. A few seconds latter after the leaf was thoroughly shredded apart she darted over the rocks to find out where Iris was. Crashing through the long grass her eyes spotted a hint of gold and as she went forward to investigate a flurry of feathers erupted in front of her muzzle. Tail wagging Kai followed. Iris was cold, wet, embarrassed, and miserable and in no mood to make new friends. In fact, she felt a little hostile. Bitterly, she gave a half-hearted snap at the wet plants by the river. When she heard the voice, she peered downstream. She saw two wolves. She was a little surprised to see other animals of her species, but she was so annoyed at the world in general, that she snapped. "No I don't need help! Does it look like I need help?" Iris stopped. The ferocity in her voice astounded her. Meanwhile, Kai pelted through the forest snapping at the pheasant. As it flew away, Kai felt a little sulky for it was the second time today that her favorite meal had gotten away. Continuing on she came to the river. New scents hit her nose rather quickly, and she looked to try and find her friend. Sitting next to the river bank, Iris was soaked and was looking rather hostilely towards the younger wolf which was too close to her. She hadn't quite caught what Iris had said, but the tone was strong enough to carry the message. Fur rising on end, Kai rushed past the older wolf to stand in front of her friend. A feral snarl ripped from her throat as she addressed the two strangers. 'I'm not rather fond of wolves that push my friends into rivers.' Kai took a step into the water, staring down the wolf who had spoken to Iris.

Lydia spat at the ground in disgust. "Are you accusing my mother? Well, if so, I'm not particularly fond of wolves who treat others like garbage." Her voice was smooth and cool, and she tried her best not to sound angry, though it was quite clear from the expression on her face. "Next time someone offers you help, I suggest acting a little more grateful."
Freyja stepped forward and put her paw out to silence her daughter. "Oh, Lydia, what have I told you about fighting? I'm sure they mean no harm. Young she-wolf, I certainly did nothing to your friend." She turned her gaze back to the dripping wet wolf and smiled. "In any case, I'm glad to see you're not hurt."
Lydia grunted sarcastically and rolled her eyes. Why was her mother so forgiving? If it were Lydia, she would have torn the other wolf's throat out by now. No one would dare accuse her own mother of such a barbaric act and get away with it. She was beginning to hate these two strangers, but she wasn't in the mood for a fight. Not now, anyway. A low growl emitted from her throat and she turned swiftly around in the opposite drection. "Come on, mother. They obviously don't care for newcomers, not even friendly ones."

Iris blinked at Kai's viciousness, her own hostility forgotten. Her friend had never shown this kind of aggression to another wolf. She got to her paws and shook herself off. Water droplets from her ear tufts flew everywhere. Kai was standing in front of her. Iris padded up to the red wolfess and whispered to her. "Kai, they didn't push me in." She explained. "I was leaping on the rocks and I fell in. They were actually offering to help." She looked at the newcomers. She didn't particularly like the looks of the one that had just turned to leave, but she didn't want to loose track of them, not after having no contact with other wolves for so long. "Please, don't leave." She called after them. "I apologize for my sharp words. I was too quick to react." She smiled at them. "My friend here is Kai. We're usually not like this."

Lydia seemed to stop dead in her tracks. Her ears cocked, and she turned her head back slightly.
"Oh, don't worry about it. I suppose I would also be a little upset if I feel into the river!" Freyja said, laughing heartily at her own joke. Lydia coughed in annoyance, trying to signal to her mother that it was time to leave. Frey only smiled and shook her head, then turned back to the other she-wolves. "Pay no attention to my daughter. I'm not sure what has gotten into her lately. Anyway, where are you two from?"
At this point, Lydia was becoming increasingly irritated. It was bad enough Freyja was acting so kind and forgiving towards strangers, and now she was asking them questions? This situation was only going to get worse. "It doesn't matter where you're from! We're glad you're not hurt. Come on, mother, we're leaving."
"Lydia, show some decency," Frey retorted. She smiled and nodded towards the two wolves, asking them the same question as before.
