South from the Lakes and close to Emerald Forest and Harvest Valley is the old Deepwater Ruins. As with its brethren, the rock is a mix of light and dark gray round rock stacked on top of each other like a pillar. Unlike human pillars, this is rough, course and uneven. This was once a great feature that dwarfed the surrounding landscape, but like the other Pillars it is in ruin with the rock coming away like an onion skin and so cold it is said to be like a decaying body. Its dying remains litter the ground making it from smooth to rocky. On the base lie bloodstains.
These bloodstains are said to be the work of Dis cultists. With all the lush territory that attracts sacrifices it would make the place perfect, even more so with the lush Emerald Forest and Harvest Valley to make patrols for more victims. This apparently allowed many to be claimed by the cultists. At one point it was said to be so bad that a deer nearby said:
When the lakes are lush
The cultist’s presence you can trust
For the god of the dead
The Stone runs red.
Some even thought that it was so bad that, on certain nights, screaming faces could be made out in the rock as blood trickled out of their mouths. Some are nervous of going near this ruin or any because of what they heard was done here. For a little while now, though, there has been no activity around the rock except for the occasional unbelieving wolf marking it.
Some say this is a nice place, though. Some say it’s just a place for Dis to relax while in the mortal world and that the stories may just be a little fun he had to scare animals. Others believe that if the Pillar was gone then the Lake would dry up and most life here would cease to be. With many stories about this Pillar, it's hard to tell what is true or not.
