Name: Kalgorn
Gender: Male
Age: 3 winters
Appearance: Kalgorn has a dominant brown pelt with minor amounts of white fur. His underside and paws are the only places white fur can be seen on him, except for his back where there's a perfectly shaped white Z. Kalgorn has an average build. Strong and thin. Very little bulk and warm deep green eyes.
History: Let's start this from the beginning. As a pup he only knew his mother. At the time of his birth, his mother was a loner. She had used to belong to a pack and had had a mate. But he had gone to find food for her and never came back. The pack, she had left on her own. The food was too small to support the entire pack and she knew that she would probably die of starvation if she stayed. The famine was only getting worse. So, she had to raise Kalgorn on her own. For awhile, it was just her and Kalgorn. This time became very useful as she needed to teach Kalgorn the basics of life in the wild such as hunting. He turned out to be a quick learner. After a few months, he was already catching prey to large for him to finish eating. But this time together didn't last long. Hunters split them apart when they attacked. He never saw his mother again and he never knew what had become of her.
Maybe she was looking for him. Maybe she had forgotten him. Or maybe she was dead. In any case, there was nothing he could do about it. So he had to spend a restless night in a burrow of snow. Normally he had his mother to keep him warm. But without her, he had to find a way to keep himself warm. He spent most of the next year of his life on his own, learning how to keep himself warm, how to hunt certain prey, how to survive, ect . . .
But the world is too small for one to live alone and Kalgorn was no exception. He had caught himself a healthy size caribou. Just what he had been hoping for. After he had eaten himself silly, he lay a few feet away from remains of the caribou, muzzle and paws soaked in blood and his belly round and puffy, he heard the sounds of something approaching. He sat up and looked around. Nothing. Still, he wasn't relying on his eyesight alone. Sniffing the air, he was able to pick up traces of another scent. His nose might have been covered in blood, but he could still smell. He knew this scent wasn't the dead caribou or its blood. This was. . . another wolf? He wished he hadn't gorged himself on that caribou now.
The sound came again, only closer this time. Deffinatly closer and louder. He didn't know if this wolf's intentions were to take him out, or was he/she just hungry and had smelled the blood of the caribou? Kalgorn had no idea. He hadn't seen another wolf since he had been separated from his mother. That was a little under a year ago. Deciding to get to his paws incase this wolf attacked him, he wanted to be able to defend himself. Not stuck on his back with a heavy stomach. But before he could get up, the wolf appeared.
It was a pure white female. For a second, the two just stared at each other. He saw her eyes dart from him to the caribou then back at him.
"Hello" Kalgorn said getting to his paws. It felt weird standing up right now. His stomach was like an anchor. He wasn't used to his underside pulling him down and had to sit back down. It wasn't until he finally figured out that what she wanted, was food. He was more than glad to give the rest of his kill to her. He hadn't seen another wolf in so long. While the wolf ate, literally pulling every last bit of tissue from the bones, Kalgorn tried to get her to talk. But she wouldn't talk. She was too busy eating.
When she had finished eating, only then was he able to talk with this Fae. Her name turned out to be Asper. She also went on to tell him that she was a loner as well and had been having trouble finding(and catching) food. The sun fell down from the sky further and further until it finally set and the moon took its place and Kalgorn and Asper continued to talk.
They seemed to hit it off real quick. When the two of them had grown so tired they couldn't keep their eyes open anymore, They slept. Not side by side, but they were under the same tree. It had fallen, but not entirely hit the ground. During it's fall, the tree had lodged itself in one of the nearby trees and now is was on a tilt, just high enough for them the crawl into. The leaves kept in warmth, so it was a perfect little home. The ground wasn't as hard as it usually was when sleeping in rocky caves. When they awoke their stomach were hungry again, and they went off to find food. Hopefully another caribou. But they had to have moved on from the area because they didn't find a single one. They did locate a baby moose though.
So now they were hunting together. After just one day of knowing each other? Hard to believe but she was right there with Kalgorn as they took down their prey and soon-to-be meal. Their time together didn't end there either.
A week passed and Kalgorn was starting to really like this wolf. The smallest, however brief, contact between them made him shiver. Even just a small brush of her side against his whenever she'd pass him.
Two weeks and now they were starting to find themselves much closer when waking up than they remembered when laying down.
Three more days passed and they were holding eye contact much longer. Her bright blue orbs staring back into his green eyes.
Two more days and. . . a nuzzle?
The next day, a kiss.
Kalgorn was curious what the next step was going to be. But they never got to that night together. The previous night, Asper has pressed her nose to his before they went to sleep. The next morning. . . she was gone. But she wasn't far. A trail of blood led from where he'd seen her before going to sleep, to the snow just outside the fallen trees. Blocked by the leaves, Kalgorn feared what he'd see once the leaves were no longer impairing his vision. So, reluctantly, he crawled out there she was. Her white pelt. . . not so white anymore. Asper lay there, motionless and quite dead. He stomach didn't rise or fall which would have indicated her breathing. Even after nudging her a few times, she remained entirely motionless.
Something had found their den and had decided to use Asper for. . . something. He couldn't tell. It didn't look like feeding. But surely if it was torture she would have woken him up. Really, he was right there. Not even 10 feet from her. A simple call of his name and he could have saved her, but she had been entirely silent and she had lost her life. What had happened to her?
He was all alone again. He almost didn't want to live now. After having someone there with him for so long, and now she was gone. Her body was in front of him, but it was just an empty shell. Had had really made Asper Asper, was gone. He tried to keep his head on straight and not lose it. But he could only keep it bottled up for so long. Then he ran into an even bigger problem, hunters. Large two legged creatures with long metal objects. He'd seen these before and knew he should keep his distance. But that turned out not to be enough. He'd been spotted while hunting at night and, in the hunters haste to get their guns before he vanished into the night, one of them knocked over a bright yellow glowing object that exploded and caused everything around it to erupt in fire when it crashed. In a forest with the trees this close together, fire was a very bad thing. He could see it practically laughing at him. Telling him he was going to have to find a new home. But he couldn't do anything about it. He knew nothing about the mysteries of fire and only knew one thing. It was powerful and destroyed everything in it's path. His eyes flashed over to his old home that he now couldn't bear to sleep in and frowned. Asper's body was still there. . .
Example RP Post: Kalgorn lay there, his fur singed and smoke practically rising off him. The white Z the was normally perfectly clear on his back had disappeared. Covered up by black ashes. Most of his fur was now black too. He was curled up, laying on his side and his nose pointed down toward his legs. He wasn't unconscious or hurt, but extremely exhausted. He was about to just sleep right there. But his instincts to survive kicked in and gave him that last small bit of energy he needed to get himself back onto his paws. When he was up and no longer swaying and loosing his balance, his eyes met the forms of several wolves as soon as he looked up.
Had he not been so exhausted, he might have jumped in fright or shock. But as it was, he merely just looked at the wolf closest to him. Then it was hard to remember what happened next but the next thing he knew he was standing up in the middle of the trees facing a wolf. The wolf had old yet strong look to him. He was seated on a rock slightly higher than Kalgorn. A sign of dominance. While Kalgorn looked up at him, the wolf explained that he was the alpha of the Eurand pack and that they had helped him rest from his ordeal. His fur was now clean of the ashes and back to normal but now he was being offered a position in this pack.
He couldn't help but look down once the alpha said these words. If Asper had just survived that one night. . . Before Kalgorn had made up his mind, his gut seemed to take over and he found himself uttering the word
"Yes".
Yes. . . . he had been in a wolf pack. But that door was now closed to him now. It had been to good a thing and it ended horribly. So, resigning it to be a horrific chapter in his life in which he had briefly enjoyed, he locked it away and tried to forget it.
Personalty: Kalgorn is a friendly wolf. Peace-keeper first and fighter second. This is because. . . out of everything he had been through his simply couldn't fight. He lacked knowledge of any fighting techniques or stances to take for defense. He knew nothing about defending himself. Otherwise, he generally acted on the shy side. Both timid and quiet. He's spent nearly his whole life alone. Having no developed social skills left him at a loss to what he should say whenever he came across another wolf.
Apart from all these setbacks in his character, Kalgorn is a really nice wolf.
