What's your favorite musical/ play?
My favorites: The Phantom of the Opera and RENT are tied for me with Wicked in second and Cats in third place.

"The Phaaaantom of the Opera is there... inside my mind!" Uh...yeah...hehe. I like the Phantom of the Opera as well. Do Disney musicals count? I like Beauty and the Beast too. Avenue Q is funny... Footloose has catchy songs... Only musical I ever dreaded was... High School Musical. That thing is so cheesy it makes me laugh.

High School Musical was one of the worst things I have seen in my life. And now they're coming out with a sequel. Just kill me now!!!
Sure. Disney counts. I haven't seen the Beauty and the Beast musical, though.
If you liked the Phantom of the Opera, I suggest the original novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux. It's really good. It led to a number of sequels/ prequels, but I think Phantom by Susan Kay is better than the original. It tells the story of Erik's (the phantom) life. Wonderful book.

Well, that shows how much I know. I wasn't even aware it was based on a novel I'll have to look into that. I've never seen the Beauty and the Beast play either, only the movie. Unfortunately I'll probably never be able to see it now that it's going to be having its final show (if it hasn't already) soon. I've never been to Broadway, and it's something I definately want to do some day.

I'm going to New York next summer for my 16th birthday. We already have seats for Wicked and Phantom of the Opera. ^^

You lucky person. I need to read Wicked. Everyone keeps talking about it and I am sick and tired of not knowing how the thing ends.

The thing with Wicked is that the music and play are absolutely wonderful, but the book is atrocious. I listened to the music for a while, and loved it, so I wanted to read the book that inspired it. I was sorely dissapointed. The plot jumps around and a lot of things are never fully explained. The beginning is slow, it picks up a little in the middle, and the ending is a complete letdown. But if you really want to read it, I suggest renting it from a library rather than buying it.

Really? I have heard many good things about it. But I do trust you, so I might pick it up for reading before the end of summer. That is rather funny to me actually. Everything now a days is based off of something else. A book makes a series which makes a movie, ect. The cycle never seems to end. I swear there is nothing new in this world.
