Name: Niobe
Gender: Female
Age: 3 winters old
Species: Wolf-dog mix
Appearance: If the wolves of old were around to admire this she-wolf, they would all probably make the same remark: how much she resembled her mother, the mad old wolfess Savore! Her eyes are a pale blue, giving her the appearance of being blind when she truly is not. The look of them are rather unnerving. Niobe's markings are similiar to her mother's, but are not as light-colored. Her fur is a rich dark grey while the stripes that run from her muzzle, over her eyes and ears, down both of her sides and meet together at the tip of her tail are a deep, pitch black. Her legs are longer than normal and her fur is thick, and strong muscles ripple beneath her skin. Her tail is rather long and extremely thick and fluffy. She happens to be rather large for a female and this is due to her father's blood. She even has the X-shaped scars of her mother on her chest.
History: Niobe is the offspring of the mad wolfess Savore and of a mixed breed of domesticated dog. The male canine was muscular, resembled a german shepard and wolf mix, but was dark colored and very very large: his true blood was unknown. His name was Eben, given to him by humans. It is truly unknown of how this pairing came to be: some say that Savore was forced while others swear the mad wolfess had fallen in love. Either way, Niobe was the result of the matching. Originally, Savore had two other children, but both were stillborns. Only Niobe was born alive and healthy.
Savore wanted to keep Niobe with her father, the mixed dog, but Eben was unwilling to leave his humans. When Niobe was weaned, Savore could no longer remain near the disgusting humans. She wanted to leave and Eben refused: the mad wolfess, furious, attacked her mate to save Niobe from a life with the humans. Eben fought back, and because of his size and brute strength, he won. Savore was driven back into the forests, forced to leave Niobe under the care of her father and the humans.
Niobe missed her mother terribly, but she loved her father as well. When she was a year old, tragedy struck. One of the human's children, a young boy, had been attacked and killed by a young wolf. Niobe was, of course, blamed. Eben tried to defend his daughter, whom he loved dearly. He stood in their path...but the humans were enraged by his behavior. The humans that Eben loved so much were the ones to shoot a bullet through his chest. As her father fell before her, his last words to her were for her to run: run and find her mother and to never trust the humans again.
So, Nio ran. She ran with all her might, and strangely, Savore was waiting for her beyond the next hill. Savore was no fool: she wanted her daughter back and had planned the whole thing. She knew Eben would defend Niobe and tell her to run, so Savore had gotten a foolish coyote to attack the human boy. Niobe realized what her mother had done and was outraged. But what could a young wolfess do? She had no hunting skills and had to be taught. And she still loved her mother...so, she began the next chapter of her life. She followed her mother into the wilderness to be taught how to be a true wolf.
What Niobe didn't realize was just how much Eben's death tore at Savore. Savore was not cruel and she still loved her mix breed mate. She was devastated at her loss, but Savore was growing old. Her time would come soon, she knew, and she had to teach her daughter the ways of the wolves.
For the next year, Savore taught Niobe all she knew. Savore was tough, as many wolves knew, and had many tricks up her sleeves, and Niobe learned them all. But it was not to last. One morning, Niobe awoke and Savore was gone. Simply gone. There was no trace of her mother and all her searches ended up failing. Savore, the mad wolfess, had disappeared.
Niobe, having no other choice, began to wander from territory to territory, a loner now, with no pack to call her own.
Personality: Niobe is a wild wolfess at heart, but she often displays dog charactistics as well. She can be very friendly, and is always loyal to those she loves, but she tends to be very shy and uncertain at first. She never knew any wolves except for her mother, so she doesn't know what to expect. She is fiercely proud of her father's blood and doesn't take lightly to those who mock her dog-blood. She often displays her mother's insane streaks, and there are rumors that she is mad as well. Perhaps it is true, but Nio easily laughs and her tail wags often. However, she is not one to be crossed, for her size and strength have been tested quite often in her wanderings. Extremely tough, but often uncertain, Niobe is a wolfess who only needs a pack that she can open up in. If only she could be accepted...
