What you want to suggest: What do you think of having the seasons match those in real time? So like right now it'd be summer....
Why: It might make rp more interesting...like actually having to wait for each season and getting a feel for how long it lasts (like in winter how hard it can be to survive cause it lasts so long)
How could it benefit the site: Might add a touch more realism

I like this idea. In the old Wolf RP, it tended to get a bit confusing when the seasons would just change randomly. Let's see what Blue thinks

Its sound good but there are problems:
1. We've already started and it mighrt be a bit clunky to jump from another season. Prey might be in a diffrent place etc.
2. Lets say we have to wolves talking at the end of winter. The convosation is posted over a view days. A new wolf joins the thread in spring but the convo is over a view minutes in the RP. This could make things off.
Those are the two problems i with the idea have right now.

If we worked in the transitions (having a few weeks of slush between winter and spring and so on) maybe it would smooth things out. Also, the season could be posted on the news banner or maybe there could be a weather section of the forum where it described about what stage in the weather it was (updated every 6-8 weeks or so depending on the season?) Each area description seems to have any important weather change information already so it would probably fit in nicely with that already. As to changing mid-stream, if it's something that is decided on, better now when the forum is still somewhat new than later when it'll really be harder with a lot more members and rp's going on (yay for growth!). But I understand if this is not a viable option. It's not really a huge deal, in the end. ~marji

Well, in nature, there's never really a time when there isn't transition....so for instance you could break it into categories...like :
Early Spring Full Spring Late Spring Early Summer
and so on. And for instance, early spring might be when the nights are still pretty cold but the first crocuses are just blooming and things are starting to stir a bit. The frost has left the ground but it still stays a bit chilly at night and early morning.
Full spring would be what everyone thinks of when they think of spring...flowers, mild weather, bunnies being born, whatever (though i guess in the north it wouldn't be exactly warm...just...warm-er)
This might allow everyone to transition as well...especially if we had a calendar...so there was a set date each season when the transition would happen. That way everyone would know "spring was coming" or "winter is about to set in" and could work it into their rp.
If you broke it up into four seasons you could say something like, November-February would be full winter with a couple weeks before that (mid-october) being transition from autumn into winter....and then starting the first two weeks in march would be the transition into spring...and then full spring starting march or maybe april....summer beginning in june....fall in late august....
That's just an example of how it might work...some of the seasons could also be longer than others or you could break it up evenly.....

Good idea but problem number two still stands.

I don't really see where it isn't a problem with the system there is now, as well. After all, at some point you'll say "Okay everybody now it's summer!" and then people will have to adjust mid-rp. I suppose you could go around and check and let everyone know and give them warning to adjust before you do....but again I don't see how that's too much different than having a pre-decided date. And assuming this forum will grow larger, it will be harder to adjust things that fit in with everyone by just arbitrarily announcing a change. But maybe I'm not understanding the question ~marji p.s. also something i just thought of: couldn't a weather announcement be a part of "the world you live in" section?

If if i do anounce a change it will be put in the news fader.
Basically i'm saying that a wolf in spring could talk to a wolf who is still in winter in his thread.

I'm sorry I'm still not understanding the problem...I'm pretty easily confused though I don't see how that would be any different than having a pre-ordained time of change? When you say "It's summer" people would still have to adjust their rps....for instance if someone's character made a post during the winter and then you announced that it was spring...then the next character posted a scene where it was spring...it would still be a little confusing. But again I'm probably just confused... ~marji

But the thread would be in a certain time period in spring. RP threads don't change seasons midway.

Ooooh I see......so in a thread it will always be one season?

Yes since a thread coulf be a convo in a middle of winter. That convo will not carry over a season.
