Th Eternal Plains is one of the largest territories, roughly the size of Emerald Forest, which the Plains border. The majority of it is nothing but a barren wasteland, although in certain spots there are small ponds and a few scattered trees. The land is composed of mostly dirt and patches of grass, and even snow seems to melt faster here during the winter months. When it rains, the soil becomes thick and muddy, making it even more difficult to trek. The land gets grassier near the edges of the forest, and rockier as you get closer to the mountains. The land stretches on for miles, seemingly endless, which give the Plains its name. Mice, hares, and even the occasional snake are found living beneath the ground, although they are extremely hard to catch. Because of the shortness of water and lack of any real prey, many traveling wolves have met their end here. Thus, it does not make a suitable area to start a pack. However, once during each year a great herd of caribou migrate across the plains, an excellent hunting oppurtunity. Elk are also known to come by every once in awhile and graze.
Humans also pose as a threat. The Plains are valued by miners for their richness in copper, and rumors have spread that the logger's on the far western edge of the forest are expanding their settlement.
Some legends say the plains were once a beautiful valley created by the earth goddess, Gaea, and that an angry god, jealous of her powers, destroyed the Plains, turning them into what they are now. Others say the Plains were always this way, and were created as an area of peace for herds. Some believe the Plains will once again become beautiful once the humans are rid from the land. None are really sure which story to believe.
